Mike drops 70lbs and regains his confidence!

Mike was surviving off of convenience foods and caffeine (something I can relate to!) but his friend Jacob inspired him to do P90X. Having the support of a success partner (coach) kept him on track and motivated and he has now lost over 70 lbs!!! After P90X and P90X2, he became a coach to pay it forward and now he’s helping others change their life around! He’s now onto Bodybeast!

I’m stoked that Michael has joined our team as a coach and is paying it forward. His transformation is AWESOME and he’s an amazing guy as well!

Check out his P90X Results video below:

IN HIS OWN WORDS:

I began working out at the gym. I had a routine where I would do 45 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of weights, then I would sit in the steam room for 20 minutes, shower and go home. 9 months of that and I lost about 40 lbs but plateaued. Since I couldn’t break that plateau, Jake showed me P90X and the rest is history. I lost 30 lbs in 90 days to break my plateau and get in the best shape of my life. Since then, I’ve completed P90X again, P90X2, Insanity: Asylum, and am currently on body beast. Total time frame for my transformation was 12 months.

1) What were your before/after stats (weight/bodyfat)

Before: 220lbs about 25-30% body fat.

After: 150lbs, about 10% body fat.

2) What your life was like before and how it has change/improved?

Before P90X, my life was surrounded by convenience. I never prepared foods on my own and relied on fast food for nutrition. Jack in the Box and Panda Express were my favorite places to go. I was also extremely lazy and played video games all day, every-day, with no breaks. My life has improved dramatically since those days. While I still play video games, I do so in moderation and I put my health first. I have learned how to cook and prepare meals and I refuse to eat fast food anymore. I have more energy, I feel strong and vibrant, and I am happy that I am serving as an example to others.

3) How has the support of a coach and this team helped you?

My coach Jacob is the only reason I succeeded with P90X. To be honest, I didn’t even want to do the program because I heard of how hard it was. Everyone that I knew, everyone, 100%, failed and did not graduate because of the difficulty level. I really leaned on my coach to help me throughout the program. He answered all of my questions and kept me motivated. Without my coach, I would not be a 3 per-center. This team is helping me reach my financial goals by providing support and information for me through every turn. Learning how help others is a big challenge, and I am glad that I have this team here to help me grow.

4) Besides the support of a coach & team, what was the key to your success?

Commitment. I told myself that no matter what, I would finish what I start, and I would not quit. I figured that if I did everything this program told me to do, and I didn’t lose the weight, then there was no hope, and I would just be fat forever. I stayed committed to the program, and that commitment flourished into not only a healthy body and mind, but a healthy business too.

5) What tips would you give to someone who is new and starting out?

Be in the moment and enjoy the journey. Don’t get caught up with the results and the outcome. Don’t let your ego get in the way, and don’t focus on the numbers. It’s more about quality than quantity. Your focus should be on showing up every-day, pressing play, doing your best and forgetting the rest. Keep the momentum going, and if you feel like you want to quit, don’t be afraid to reach out to your coach for help and support. Get your nutrition dialed in and locked down and stay committed! Oh, and ask questions, ask questions, ask questions, ask questions!!!

Zander Gets Absolutely Ripped

Wow — I was blown away when I saw Zander’s 120 day results! When Zander came to me, he had already lost 30 lbs which is pretty impressive. He wanted to take his results to the next level and so I recommended Shakeology to go along with P90X. I also made a recommendation on what to eat. Throughout the 90 days of P90X and then 30 days of Insanity Asylum, he had to increase his calories to keep dropping bodyfat — and you can see the results! P90X Results!

With 100% Effort, Zander Gets Awesome Results

In His Own Words:

My life before was a disappointment. I was athletic when I was younger and was a regular at the gym in high school. Somewhere along the line I let partying take over my life and with that came horrible eating habits. At age 23 I found myself around 220 pounds which was a direct result of drinking, horrible eating and lack of motivation to do anything active. I had no direction and I was truly disappointed in myself. I wouldn’t even go to the beach or to an event that required taking your shirt off. I took on sobriety and lost about 30 pounds by running and doing pushups. As I felt myself gaining back strength and feeling average again I decided to take on P90X in an attempt to become extraordinary. I have never been so focused or committed to anything in my life. As I saw more and more change I became captivated by fitness and nutrition. Nothing was going to get in the way of me finishing and getting awesome results.

As I neared the end of P90X a friend asked “so what are you going to do after?”….. That is when I decided to get committed to the Asylum. I was nervous at first but knew that a new tougher challenge was exactly what I needed to keep my newfound motivation and drive. After 120 days of extremely hard work and 100% disciplined nutrition I can see that it was all worth it as I dropped down to 6% bodyfat and have abs for the first time in my life.

Doing P90X changed the way I view life.  Now I am focused and confident. I feel like I have a purpose in life and am truly pleased with my progress. Not to mention my relationships with friends and family are better because I am just a happier person all around.

I’m really proud of Zander because he obviously gave it a 100% effort and took the time to learn about nutrition and supplements. He has a new found confidence and has decided to pay it forward by becoming a coach on my team! You can visit him at his website:

How to Improve Your Pull ups (Video)

I started P90X only able to do 3 pull-ups but by the end of 90 days, I was able to do 16. But for some people, they still struggle to even do 1 pull-up. I get asked a lot for tips to improve pull-ups so I decided to put together a video that gives the basics on how to do pull-ups properly and how to improve them. You can incorporate these tips for improving pull-ups into P90X but if you’re not doing P90X, I also included a routine that you can use three times a week.

Who’s the trainer in Bodybeast, Sagi Kalev?bodybeast-Sagi-Kalev-

Straight from Wikipedia:

After a four-year tour of duty in the Israeli Army, including participation in Operation Desert Storm, Sagi resumed his weightlifting and bodybuilding interests, capturing two “Mr.

Israel” titles in the process, as well as his college education, graduating with a degree in physical education and a minor in nutrition from the University of Central Florida. Kalev has earned his certifications in some of the top fitness and nutrition fields from PROPTA as Certified Nutrition Specialist CNS*, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition, PROPTA Master Professional Personal Trainer, and Certified Metabolic Typing Advisor. Sagi Kalev is the Senior Director of PROPTA, the World Leading Personal Trainers Certification agency certifying personal trainers and nutritionists in Texas. Kalev was recently inducted in the PROPTA hall of fame for his dedication and loyalty to the PROPTA and the fitness industry.

I actually got to meet Sagi at the annual Beachbody Summit and he’s a really nice guy. He’s not just big, he is really smart and educated on nutrition. He doesn’t advocate caffeine or mass-gainer shakes… he really emphasizes natural whole foods!

Not only did I get to meet him, I’m friends with him on Facebook and he’s in our Bodybeast Challenge group!! So now we’re getting advice straight from the Beast himself!

What workout equipment do I need for Body Beast?

The good news is, you will NOT need olympic sized weights — you won’t be doing any flat-bench with a bar, just dumbbells when flatbench. You’ll also use dumbbells and the ezcurl bar when doing incline and flys.

You’ll need 3 things to do Bodybeast successfully at home:

  1. A bench that can lay flat or incline. Beachbody sells a really nice one from Powerblock for a pretty good price.  Check Craigslist too.
  2. A set of dumbbells — I recommend dumbbells that range from 10-50 lbs at minimum, and up to 90 lbs if you’re serious.  Check out my Boxflex 552 and 1090 review video.
  3. An ez-curl bar with plated weights — Check Craigslist for a deal, if you can’t find one, Beachbody actually has a really good deal for an 11lb bar + 85lbs of weight for $129 + shipping. You can purchase the Ez-Curl Bar and Weights here.

What’s the Bodybeast schedule like?

Below is a photo of the body beast schedule.  Basically it is sectioned off in 3 phases called “Blocks”. Overall a 12 Week program designed to gain mass and get huge.

The First Block is the BUILD
3 Weeks / 6 Days / 1 Rest

The Second Block is the BULK
6 Weeks / 6 Days / 1 Rest

The Third Block is the BEAST!

What is the Bodybeast Nutrition Plan like?

I’ve never seen a more comprehensive, yet easy to follow nutrition plan designed for adding muscle! Not only is it based on how much you weigh and how active you are (like every other calorie formula), it also takes into account how much bodyfat you’re starting with! At the start of  each phase, you re-calculate your bodyfat and calorie goal! This is to ensure you’re not over-eating and gaining a bunch of fat.

What are the Bodybeast supplements?

The Bodybeast program was designed with 4 supplements in mind:

  1. A high quality protein
  2. Creatine
  3. Fuel Shot (similar to the P90X Recovery drink)
  4. Super Suma (this is a real game changer!).
BodyBeast_SuperSuma

We’ve seen the first 3 supplements before and I highly recommend that you get them or a good alternative,  but I’m most excited about the Super Suma, which is designed to aid the body’s natural ability to produce testosterone. It is NOT an artificial steroid per-cursor, this is an all natural plant steril.  In my opinion, this one is worth EVERY penny! You can get it on auto-ship and get free shipping, for only $29.95/month by clicking here.

Called “the Russian secret,” because it has been taken by Russian Olympic athletes for many years to stimulate muscle growth, control appetite by regulating blood sugar levels and boost endurance, Suma root, though mistakenly called “Brazilian Ginseng” (it does not belong to the Ginseng family) has far greater medicinal properties and reported health benefits than any variety of Ginseng.

Indigenous to the rain forests of the Amazon Basin of South America, Suma root, derived from the base of the Suma vine has for hundreds of years been used for its ability to heal wounds, balance blood sugar levels, strengthen muscles, relieve chronic pain and inflammation, improve low energy and sexual libido, stimulate circulation, reduce tumors, stabilize blood pressure and for treating conditions such as diabetes, skin problems, and tumors. Proponents of Suma assert that it promotes the body’s ability to adapt to stress and works as a harmonizing agent that restores and boosts the immune system.

Ultimate Reset Week 1 Favorite Dinner recipe – Zucchini-Cashew Soup and Salad

Ultimate Reset Week 1 Favorite Dinner recipe – Zucchini-Cashew Soup and Salad
Print
Recipe Type: Dinner
Author: David
Prep Time: 1 hour
Cook Time: 15 mins
Total time: 1 hour 15 mins
Serves: 1
The name might not sound that great but I really loved this one! I am not a big fan of soups or salads and I almost licked my bowl clean. It’s so easy to make and there’s no cooking except for steaming the zucchini, which only takes a few minutes. We used the magic bullet (blender) make this soup – it was perfect! Take notice: It requires 1 hour to soak the cashews in water prior to making the soup
Ingredients
  • 1 large or 2 small zucchini, cut into chunks and steamed
  • 1/4 cup raw cashews
  • Himalayan salt or Bragg Liquid Aminos (to taste)
  • Herbal seasoning or fresh herbs, like basil or dill (optional; to taste)
  • Steamed vegetables
  • (optional; for chunky soup)
  • Salad:
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrot
  • 1/4 cup chopped cucumber
  • 1/4 cup sliced red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup sprouts (like radish, alfalfa, or broccoli)
  • 1/4 cup chopped tomato
  • 1/4 cup chopped jicama
  • Fresh herbs (like basil, cilantro, parsley, dill)
  • 1/3 cup toasted seeds and nuts (like cashews, pecans, pumpkin seeds, or sunflower seeds)
Instructions
  1. Preparing the Soup:
  2. Soak cashews in enough water to cover for 1 hour; drain.
  3. Combine cashews, zucchini, salt OR aminos, and seasonings in blender and mix until smooth, adding water as needed for desired consistency. Pour into saucepan and reheat gently, but do not boil. (We skipped this step and it was fine!)
  4. For chunky soup, add steamed chopped vegetables of your choice. Can also be served cold.
  5. Preparing the Microgreen Salad:
  6. In most produce sections, you can find bulk or bagged mixed baby greens, which may include lettuces, baby kale, mizuna, radicchio, etc. these are perfect.

Ultimate Reset Week 1 Favorite Dinner Recipe – Baked Salmon

Baked Salmon, Asparagus and Baby Potatoes
Print
Recipe Type: Dinner
Author: David
Prep Time: 1 hour
Cook Time: 22 mins
Total time: 1 hour 22 mins
Serves: 1
This is one of our favorite dinner recipes from week 1 of the Ultimate Reset. We bought wild salmon from our local grocery store, along with baby potatoes and asparagus. Our 12 year old son normally doesn’t like fish or the salmon patties we get from Costco but he tried this and loved it. Score! Our 2 youngest (ages 6 and 8) already liked salmon patties so they liked this as well. Take notice: This one requires 1 hour to marinade the salmon prior to baking!
Ingredients
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1-2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil
  • 1/4 tsp. Himalayan salt
  • 1/2 tsp. herbal seasoning
  • 1. Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 6-oz. salmon fillet
Instructions
  1. Preparing Salmon:
  2. In a medium glass bowl, prepare marinade by mixing garlic, oil, basil, salt, seasoning, lemon juice, and parsley. Place salmon in a medium glass baking dish and cover with marinade. Marinate in the refrigerator about 1 hour, turning occasionally.
  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place fillet in aluminum foil, cover with marinade and seal. Return sealed salmon to dish and bake 20 minutes, or until easily flaked with a fork.
  4. Preparing potatoes:
  5. Wash and chop potatoes in-half twice to create pieces about 1” thick. In a pot, cover them with water and boil on med-high heat for 15 mins (or until soft).
  6. Preparing asparagus:
  7. Wash and chop off the end of stalk. Use steam-pot to steam them for 5-7 minutes. Finish by sprinkling himalayan salt
  8. Or, bake them along with the salmon by placing them on cooking pan (on top of aluminum foil). Sprinkle half-teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil on Asparagus. When Salmon are done cooking in 20 minutes, remove fish but continue baking Asparagus by raising temperature to Broil/550 degrees for 2 minutes.

Alyssa gets thin for the first time in her life with P90X & Insanity!

Alyssa’s transformation just blows me away! Anyone who loses 51 lbs has accomplished an amazing feat but to know that she has been a heavy girl her whole life makes it even that much better! She hit that moment in life where she made a decision that things would be different from there forward. She has set an example that we can ALL look to for inspiration. Her dedication to the programs and eating healthy is truly admirable. Do you think she’s comfortable being in a swimsuit? You better believe it!

I’m so proud of you Alyssa and everything you have accomplished! This is exactly what we love about coaching! Congratulations!

Alyssa - Before and After

Before and After

IN HER OWN WORDS:

I have never been this small in my life, not even in high school, and even though in high school I wasn’t considered a “fat” girl I was always uncomfortable and always dreamed of a flat stomach. Then in college I only gained more weight and am pretty sure I could have been considered the “fat” girl. Being this size is still pretty unbelievable to me. It has absolutely changed my attitude and just myself for the better. I look at everything differently and enjoy the small things, like trying on clothes much better.

Enjoying Life!

What it was like having a coach and being a part of our team:

The BeachBody workouts were definitely a huge step in my weightloss journey. I started off with just diet and some exercise at the gym but once I received my first workout (P90X), I was never looking back! It gave me such a transformation that I never thought was possible for my frame. It’s amazing to have my BeachBody coach David on stand by. I know I can turn to him for support and its a great feeling to have!

Gamyr’s P90X Results – 90 days

Many of us choose to do P90X & Shakeology to get ripped but what if you needed it to help you improve your job? Gamyr not only runs his own theater company, he has gotten back into performing! Being in tip top shape is a must because these guys are performing in front of audiences for hours! I know how busy this guy is and knowing that he was able to stick to P90X and have incredible results is inspiring to me! If you think YOU are unique and are too busy to find an hour a day to workout, think again!

I’m really proud of Gamyr for his dedication and happy for his results. I included a few photos below of him enjoying his new-found energy and healthy body!

IN HIS OWN WORDS:

I’ve always felt self-conscious physically, and have tried on other occasions to get into better shape, but other systems were too vague for me, and nutrition was a complete foreign concept so I failed. I had received a copy of p90x a few years ago, and it sat waiting and waiting for me to get the right level of motivation. I finally got the opportunity to act on stage again after 12 years of not doing so, and suddenly I had the motivation I needed to get past that hurdle. So here I am done with round 1 and moving right on to round 2. I’m completely hooked! And I love it!

BEFORE P90X:

Before doing P90X I could fall asleep at any given time. I work crazy hours with my job and am quite active in general. Amidst all that craziness I also try and run my own theatre company, so I have reason to be tired. However, since I took the P90X challenge, I have found I have so much more energy and drive throughout the day. I’ll finish a workout now, and sometimes it’s not enough. I feel like running a race. I still get less than ideal amounts of sleep at times, but it doesn’t wear me down as much as it used to. I have a fire now. It’s amazing. It’s also, amazing to see how many people are taking notice and asking me what I’m doing and how they can do it. Being an inspiration for other people’s well being has given me a new sense of purpose and fulfillment as well. I’m loving this new phase of my life!

What it was like having a coach and being a part of our team:

Before I found Coach Ingram, I had done the first 2 phases of P90X completely on my own, and with no real understanding of the importance of nutrition. I have never been “fat”, so I felt no urgency to follow a nutrition plan. I figured if I just exercised regularly, I would tone up and accomplish my goals. After 60 days I had made some progress, but not like that of some of the people who were posting their results on youtube after the same amount of time. I was frustrated, and I turned to beachbody.com for answers. I signed up for a coach, and quickly learned that nutrition was the key to success I was lacking. I asked David a lot of questions, and he was great to get back to me quickly and thoroughly every time. Reading the team posts on our FB page, I was further informed and inspired, and nutrition became a huge focus for my last 30 days. And I saw an incredible shift in how I felt and how I looked. I couldn’t have done it without that support! I made more progress in that last 30 days than in the previous 60, both in how I looked, but also in how well I was performing. I made massive gains in all my weight training, and I’m still doing so. Thanks David, and the team!

David’s Ultimate Reset Experience

The Ultimate Reset

Are you wondering what the Ultimate Reset is?

It’s a new 21 Day Cleanse/Detox from Beachbody. It’s designed to help people break through weight-loss plateaus, restore energy and feel better again. There are 6 supplements but the best part about it is that it has a 21 Day Meal plan and videos showing you HOW TO EAT HEALTHY! If you want more details on the plan itself, visit this page.

To learn about my experience with it, continue reading below.

So why did I decide to do the Ultimate Reset?

After hearing too many good experiences, I decided to step up to the plate and begin the Ultimate Reset. I really don’t need to lose weight or correct any digestive issues. However, I decided to do it for 4 reasons. 1) The last few months finishing Pepperdine have left me stressed and really sleep deprived. 2) I’m not getting good restful sleep 3) I’ve been in a rut with the same foods I’m eating and 4) I’ve been at a plateau with my bodyfat.

My Ultimate Reset Experience

Ultimately, if I’m going to coach people through it and recommend it, I need to experience it first hand.

So it’s time to restore some balance in my life. This program will help me detox in many ways. I won’t be working out but instead I will be spending quality time with my wife to prepare meals, spending more time in nature and getting more sleep. I’m blown away by the amount of fresh, whole foods I’ll be eating. This is one week’s worth of food in the photo! Many of these foods, I had never even heard of before! Wish me luck, in 21 days, I’ll be back to my workouts and ready to go!

DAY ONE

Day 1 of the Ultimate Reset Detox is complete! This was breakfast, lunch and dinner! I also had a Shakeology Tropical for snack.

Day One Meals - Ultimate Reset

Reset Tip of the Day:

Proper breathing is one of the greatest things you can do for your health. Check your level of breathing and work on deepening it: Sit up straight, placing one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen. As you inhale, notice which hand rises. Your goal is to draw air in past your chest, all the way down into your belly. When you Accomplish this, you should feel the hand on your belly rise.

The Good:

Meals – They were very filling and tasted great. I love how there’s a 21 day meal plan of exactly what to eat and when to eat it. Kate made some awesome meals, especially the dinner! During week 1, meats and dairy are still allowed but by week 2, they are eliminated.

Weight – I lost 2 lbs in the first day. With all the distilled water I’m drinking and all the food, I was surpised to lose 2 lbs of toxins/waste.

Skin – I’ve already noticed that my skin feels different. It feels more hydrated, not as dry.

 The Struggles:

-I’m a creature of habit so this has thrown my whole routine off. All the additional time for meal prep is tough as well. Since I’m not working out, that time is definitely taken up by meal prep.

-Not being able to chew gum – that’s a hard habit for me to break.

 The Supplements:

The alkalanize is nasty! Tastes like drinking liquid grass… definitely had to chug that.

The liquid oxygen, mineralize and the optimize were all fine.

DAY TWO

Day 2 of the Ultimate Reset complete.

I could get used to these meals :) They are amazing! I also had some greek yogurt and Shakeology tropical, distilled water and the reset supplements for Day 2. I’m down 3 lbs in 2 days, eating and drinking a lot yet losing the toxins!

I’m spending a lot more time w/ my lovely wife in the kitchen – which is cool. I’m getting an education on how to prep healthy meals.

Today I mixed the alkalanize with a half scoop of Shakeology tropical, much better that way.

Reset Tip of the Day: Improving the quality of your Sleep

Pay attention to how you end your day. To help leave behind racing throughts, take a moment to write down anything that’s still occupying your mind. Getting the thoughts out of your head and down on paper can help ease your mind so it can relax for the night. Your subconscious may simmer out solutions while you sleep, and your notes will help you pick up where you left off in the morning.

DAY THREE

Ultimate Reset – Day 3 complete. So far, I’m liking it a lot.

Day 3 Meals - Ultimate Reset

I’m down 4.5 lbs in 3 days and I’m not even trying to lose weight! It’s amazing how much excess bloating and toxins we carry around. My skin and abs are looking nice and tight :)

I have to admit that before doing this, I was a little intimidated about how to cleanse and how to eat THIS healthy but what I’ve learned is that they show you how to do everything! There’s an online support site with videos showing how to cook the foods, they have grocery lists and the schedule tells you exactly what to eat, and when to eat it. There are also Facebook support groups for each week where you can ask any question you’d like from the CREATORS of the program.

Yes, it’s a challenge — it takes willpower and it requires time to shop and time to prepare the meals but it’s worth it. I feel like I’m getting an education on how to eat REALLY healthy.

Reset Tip of the Day: Spend more time in nature to relax and reduce stress. Stress hormone (cortisol) causes bellyfat!

A brisk 20 minute walk are highly recommended. Be sure to move your arms to increase circulation, and concentrate on your inhales and exhales — make them deliberate, not forced — drawing oxygen and vitality into each and every cell of your body. On your exhales, you can even picture yourself blowing toxins out of your body, because that’s what you’re doing!

DAY FOUR

Day 4 of the Ultimate Reset complete!

Day Four Meals - Ultimate Reset

Spending more time with my family, sleeping and making meals. I’ve felt a little hungry and low on energy at times but overall no other symptoms (some people mentioned aches but I’ve been fortunate not to have them). I still don’t like tomatoes but I’m following the directions 100%. The alkalanize is much better with a half scoop of Shakeology. I’m down 4.7 lbs in 4 days.

First big challenge tonight: Going to my kids’ school carnival — surrounded by the smell of food and treats but not able to have any. Wish me luck! :)

DAY FIVE

Day 5 of the Ultimate Reset complete!

Day Five Meals - Ultimate Reset

I had one of my favorite meals so far but also had one of my biggest challenges. We made some cashew & zuchini soup and it was DELISH. I’m starting to dig the salads too, really chowing them down. The big challenge was going to our kids school carnival and being surrounded by cakes, cookies, icees, burritos, chicken and all kinds of other stuff while doing this reset.

Honestly, I had to leave half way through the carnival. I resisted for about 2 hours but then I started feeling sick. Rather than give-in to the temptations, I took off. I feel bad missing some of that quality time with the kids.

Reset Tip of the Day: Getting good quality sleep is really emphasized with the Reset. You spend 1/3rd of your life sleeping, shouldn’t you put more emphasis on it?

So here’s the tip: Turn off all electronics or move them away from the bed. Why? They give off electronic magnetic fields that disrupt the bioelectrical system of the human body. In fact, studies have increasingly shown that sleep disorders may be linked to EMF exposure. In general, the less electricity you’re exposed to while sleeping, the more soundly you’ll sleep.

So we moved our alarm clock and cell phones away from our night-stand to the other side of the room.

We also bought a new mattress — one of the new memory foam/latex along with a cover that is 100% resistant to allergens, dust-mites, mold, liquids, perspiration, etc.

Day 5 was a struggle but I stuck to the plan 100%

DAY SIX

Day 6 of the Ultimate Reset

Day Six Meals - Ultimate Reset

I was not a fan of the meals on this day. Here we made Nori Rolls with Tempeh and Seaweed. While these weren’t bad, I thought the MISO Soup was nasty. I will NOT be having that again. I’ll just swap it out with a different dinner/lunch meal from the plan. Word to the wise, skip this meal and save yourself the cash too (these ingredients were some of the most expensive).

While I was eating my miso (seaweed) soup and my boys were having Pizza, I was VERY tempted to eat it. I literally thought about it 3 different times but I reminded myself that I was holding myself accountable to you guys and I didn’t want to let you down. I didn’t want to end the Reset and know that I cheated on the meal plan.

DAY 8

Day 8 of the Ultimate Reset complete!

Day Eight Meals - Ultimate Reset

I’m down 5 lbs in the first week and the skin around my abs is the tighest it’s ever been. It’s like the puffiness is gone. I slept REALLY good last night – woke up feeling great. I’m increasing my food portions (which is okay if you don’t want to lose weight).

This week, we remove all animal products so breakfast was super simple, 3 cups of fruit (that was fun to eat!). Lunch was a gigantic salad and I added an extra snack (apple + almonds), in addition to the Tropical Shakeology.

Dinner was brown rice and pinto beans + we added the roasted root medley (which I surprisingly liked). I never knew it took 50 mins to boil brown rice..!! I can’t use my microwaveable uncle bens – lol.

Started the Detox supplement today and surprisingly, it wasn’t as nasty as the alkalanize. Still taking that one + mineralize, liquid oxygen and optimize in my distilled water.

My wife is a life saver in preparing these meals!

DAY 9 & 10

Ultimate Reset – Day 9 and 10 update.

Day Nine and Ten Meals - Ultimate Reset

I got a big compliment from a co-worker yesterday. We went out into the Newport Beach harbor on boats for a team-building exercise. While my coworkers were drinking beer, eating potatoe chips and brownies, I was sticking to the Reset plan and drinking my distilled water, & alkaline, and approved snacks. So of course I start telling everyone about the Reset and he asks “Does it improve your skin? because I’ve noticed your face is very clear and you don’t have dark circles under your eyes anymore.” Wow — I’ve had them for years! So that’s a big win for me!

We later went to the 3 thirty 3 restaurant and while everyone had gourmet sliders, burritos and calimari, I had my spinach salad, avocado and some hummus.

Down 6.4 lbs and Staying strong on the plan!!!

DAY 11

Ultimate Reset Day 11

Day Eleven Meals - Ultimate Reset

I had a bit of a weird day on the Reset. I’ve been having “mental fog” — sometimes forgetting what I’m doing. I’ve heard of several others describing this as well. I’m trying hard to up my calories but I continue to lose weight — I guess I had more toxins than I thought.

Down 7.4lbs — a little over 1/2 lb per day.

So what’s that Mt. Dew doing in the picture? Did I finally break down and drink a mountain dew? haha heck no! That belongs to my co-worker — It was just funny to see my distilled water & mineralize next to his mountain dew. I’ve been sharing details about the Reset with co-workers and there’s a growing interest of people who want to do it. I never hide the fact that I’m eating healthy.

I continue to have new meals that I’ve never had before and I’m liking the majority of them! After the reset, I think I’m going to continue the giant salads and the soups. I’m also going to continue with the maintenance kit – which helps to hydrate the body, balance the pH and flush out toxins. All of this has been really good for my skin. Wow – I sound like a chick – but hey, whatever.

I’ve had a few moments with strong food cravings – like day dreaming about what foods I’ll eat after the reset, haha.

DAY 12-14

Day 12 – 14 Update – 2 Weeks DONE!

Day Nine and Ten Meals - Ultimate Reset

I saw red urine and got a little freaked out until I figured out what the culprit was: BEETS! There should be a warning about those :)

I’ve been waking up from sleep with lots of energy. I’ve lost the bags under my eyes and I the acne I used to have on my back has cleared up. Overall, it’s been tough losing weight because I don’t want to use weight so I’ve been increasing my portions and changing up the meals a little. We’re allowed to swap any lunch/dinner with another lunch/dinner so I’ve been avoiding the seaweed and sticking to my favorites.

In the top right photo, you see the Edamame – my first time having it.. basically like a little green bean. It was pretty good in that blend with other veggies and lemon. On the bottom is collard greens with coconut milk and beets!

Down 8.4 lbs in the 2 weeks since I’ve started. I’m in the home stretch now… 1 week left :)

So one of the big challenges that I’ve now gotten used to is drainking water before meals, rather than DURING meals. WHY? See below:

RESET Tip of the Day:
During your Reset, we encourage you to drink an 8- to 12-oz. glass of water 5 to 10 minutes BEFORE your meals, instead of drinking during meals. This will probably be a big shift. If you understand the reasons, it may be easier to make the change.

Drinking liquid while you eat tends to dilute digestive juices and acids, which slows down your digestion considerably. When food takes too long to go through your system, it can cause digestive problems, like fermentation and putrefaction in your colon. Since a main purpose of the Ultimate Reset is to release toxicity and cleanse your colon, you don’t want to clog it up with more gunk.

In addition, drinking water prior to a meal curbs your appetite and dulls hunger pangs. Water also prepares, opens, cleans, and lubricates the digestive tract, getting your body primed and ready for the food to come.

Worried that you won’t be able to swallow your food without drinking? Another new practice you’ll be learning is to chew each mouthful of food longer and more thoroughly. Aim for 20 to 30 chews before swallowing. Ideally, your food should be nearly liquid in consistency before you swallow it, so not having a glass of liquid to wash it down won’t be a problem.

DAY 15

Ultimate Reset Day 15 DONE – Week 3 begins!

Day Nine and Ten Meals - Ultimate Reset

I’m in the home stretch baby and feeling GREAT! Day 15 fell on Memorial Day, which kinda sucked — I decided not to attend a barbeque our family was invited to. You definitely have to be strategic when deciding when to do this Reset and how to plan your day. Passing up an invite to go out to dinner may be neccesary during these 3 weeks! This final week, we’re supposed to eliminate grains and legumes but we have the option of having 1 grain a day. I’ve decided to continue doing grains because I don’t have any issues with them. It’s been 2 weeks without any supplements such as Whey, creatine, E&E, C4, Recovery drink, glutamine and 3 weeks without working out.One great thing about this Reset is that I’ve learned how GOOD food is when flavored with simple ingredients like pure himalayan salt and coconut oil! Very tasty and healthy.I regained .4 lbs – back up to 165 – which is by design. I’ve upped my calories to about 2000 a day to prevent further weight loss.

Marine Jake’s Awesome P90X Transformation

Have you ever been devastated by something that happened in your life and you stopped caring about your body and let things slide for too long? After Jake’s wife left him and his 5 month old son behind, he turned to booze and eating to soothe the pain. He gained over 30 lbs and when he hit rock bottom, he decided to give P90X a try. As a former marine, he had learned discipline and he applied that dedication to P90X. He not only gave it all he had in the workouts, he took time to learn about nutrition and nailed it! He loves Shakeology and that is a big part of his P90X nutrition plan.

I’m so thrilled to Jacob on our team! His transformation is amazing and he’s an amazing guy as well. He’s now coaching and help other people to change their lives!

Jake's Before an and After

Happy and Healthy !

IN HIS OWN WORDS:
When I moved out on my own I let bad habits run rampant in my life.  I went from skinny to decently built through the Marine Corps but as the years went on, and I got married and had a child I let my health slip.  When my ex wife had an affair and signed off parental rights I let exercise and nutrition take a backseat to video games and alcohol.

My primary focus was my son, and I never let my bad habits effect that, but I was lacking the energy to be a “great” dad like he deserved.  My weight was steadily climbing, one year it reached just under 200 lbs.  I started hitting the gym and starving myself but I never really got it under control and I would always end up right back to where I started.

The day I said ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH was when I was watching Rocky (the new one) with my girlfriend Adriana and my son Trent.  There was a motivational moment in the film where Rocky said “You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit… It’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That´s how winning is done! Now, if you know what you’re worth, go out and get what you worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying, You ain´t what you wanna be because of him or her or anybody. ”

I looked at her, I looked at myself, I looked at my son, as we all sat there eating Taco Bell.  Seeing my son sip down a Baja Blast Mountain Dew.  I felt sick… Something arose within me, I was DONE being unhealthy. I was DONE saying I’d start changing my life tomorrow but never doing it.  I was DONE blowing my money on fast food and being a bad example tomy son.

We have a gym at our apartment complex and we figured if we could just find a routine that showed us how to work out properly we could get things going.  After some google searching on personal trainer routines P90X came up.  We looked over the program, saw the testimonials online and decided to commit to it.

My life before P90X was a haze of fast food, laziness, and wanting to get healthy but not knowing where to begin.  I barely had enough energy or the desire to do anything with my son outdoors.  Now that I’ve completed the program (twice) and am currently about to hit one year working out with Beachbody programs, my life is incredible.  My body is more fit than it’s EVER been and I can’t remember the last time I had this much energy.

I still don’t recognize myself in the mirror.  My confidence levels are through the roof! Life is SO much better now.  It makes me sad to think that for the last 8 or so years, I’ve been putting all of that junk into my body.  I’m glad that I too control now before it got worse.

What was it like having a coach and being a part of our team?
One of the most important aspects of my transformation, and why I’ve been able to commit my life to healthy eating and exercise, is the support of my coach and the online community as being part of his team provides.  I received tons of good information about nutrition that really helped me maximize my efforts, and going online to check in with the community is FUN. I can post what workouts I’ve been doing, the progress I’m making, videos and pictures etc.  It turns Facebook into something productive, inspiring, and encouraging.  Support is truly the winning element when combined with fitness and nutrition.

Committing to a healthy lifestyle is so much fun when you share it with others, and I feel just so blessed to be a part of it.  My life is forever changed!
