Stephanie Becomes Fitness Model After P90X!

Can you really just pin up a few pictures on a “vision board” and turn your life around? I mean, doing P90X gets you ripped, but it doesn’t make you a Ms. Fitness USA finalist–or does it?

Ask Stephanie Diehl, because she did exactly that!

For much of her life prior to 2007, time passed without meaning. She didn’t care about a lot. Her body fat percentage was at 28%, self-esteem needed a boost and even if she wanted to change she couldn’t imagine having a plan to get her there.

Until she walked passed an Oxygen Magazine, a magazine dedicated to women’s fitness and training. “I’d love to look like THAT,” she remembers saying to herself as she flipped through page after page of fit and healthy women. And then the P90X infomercial comes on TV…and the rest is history!

Check out her accomplishments:

* 2008 Ms Fitness USA finals
* 2010 NPC Rocky Mountain
* can do one-arm pushups, L-holds and straddle holds (moves you usually only see olympic athletes do!)

The desire to change became so great that in nine months she dropped 30 lbs and got her body fat down to an amazing 12%!!!!

She admits it wasn’t always easy. Stephanie thanks her coach for recommending Shakeology to support her nutrition and is infinitely grateful for the encouragement. She feels alive again and walks through life with super confidence. Way to go, Steph!

1) What were your before/after stats (weight/bodyfat)?
Before: 162lbs, about 28% body fat.
After: 133lbs, about 12% body fat.

What exercise program(s) did you use and in what time frame?
I used P90X to help me get into amazing shape and prepare for the Ms. Fitness USA Finals for 2008.  It took me about 9 months to go from my before photo to my after photo and compete at Nationals.   P90X helped me succeed at difficult skills like one arm push ups, L-holds, and straddle holds that were done in my fitness routine.  P90X also help me increase my endurance!  I got to do things I never thought I could do athletically and it really was because of what I was being challenged with in P90X.  I continued to with P90X for my competitions.  2010 NPC Rocky Mountain I came in the best shape of my life I P90X plyo helped me condition for it.  I came in at the Rocky at 140 #  and I was a ROCK :)

2) What your life was like before and how it has changed/improved?

I felt horrible about myself before I decided to commit to myself with P90X. Looking at my self in the mirror was not a great experience.  I had very little self esteem. I felt worthless inside. I was tired all the time and like I was just existing from day to day.  Life was bland. One day I picked up an Oxygen Magazine.  I was inspired by the fit and healthy women that were in there.  I wanted to be like them but had no idea how to do it.  I then saw a P90X commercial.  At first it seemed a little extreme for me and I certainly struggled with it but I didn’t give up.  I wanted to change my life.  I wanted to live life to the fullest and I just wasn’t accomplishing that living the sedentary life I was living, I went from wanting to be like those fitness models to actually being a fitness model! Now I LOVE having a high level of fitness. I can climb stairs with out feeling winded.  I can do all the thing that I wanted to but was physically hindered before I took back my fitness. Running, jogging, lifting heavy things that I normally would not have thought I could really gives me confidence.  I AM living life to the fullest.  The coolest part is my fitness transfers into all areas of my life.  I have more self-confidence, more energy, I like who I see in the mirror.  When I am faced with a challenge I remember all the thing I have accomplished that I never thought I could and I go take it on.

3) How has the support of a coach and this team helped you?

I could not have done any of that with out the help and support of a coach.  I didn’t have a clue how to make my fitness dreams a reality. My coach helped show me the way, encouraged me, held me accountable and was always there for me.  Having a coach was a vital part of my success.  I am so grateful that Beachbody  has this.  It helps so many people , and motivates them.  When I didn’t believe in myself, my coach did and that was enough to keep pushing play.

4) Besides the support of a coach & team, what was the key to your success?

Nutrition!  Eating right!  I can workout all day long, but if I wanted to accomplish the goal I had set I HAD to eat right.  Shakeology is an important part of eating right.  Truth be told I didn’t know how to eat right.  I learned how plan my meals.  I had never done this before.  Taking the time to prepare my food in advance of my busy schedule made a difference.

5) What tips would you give to someone who is new and starting out?

Don’t give up on yourself.  Beachbody has all the tools you need to succeed.  Great workouts, amazing supplements including shakeology and a wonderful support system.  That is a perfect recipe for success.  All you need to do is take advantage of it!  Be engaged!  If you keep pushing play you will succeed.  YOU WILL!  I think joining a challenge group is one of the best ways you can stay motivated.  There you have a group of people all doing the same thing you are.  As a group you motivate each other.  I also like making Dream Boards or Vision Boards.  Creating something that represents your fitness goals helps me to stay focused on why I am doing one more push up when I want to quit, or passing on eating that brownie in the office.  I really believe in Beachbody.  I am also grateful for the opportunity I have to help others succeed at their fitness goals.  I think that helping others as a coach helps me try a little harder with each workout.  PLUS I think there is power when you are thinking/helping other people.  Everyone benefits from this system.

Dan Makes Diabetes Disappear!

What do you do when death’s bony finger singles you out, “You’re next, Dan.” Not the spotlight you want to be in!

During his life, Dan Vukmirovich lost his grandfather to Type 2 diabetes. Then his father. Ouch.

It’s a wake up call to see this family pattern. Dan’s own health was a runaway car, hurtling to the same destination: diabetesville. Two years after his father’s passing, he saw himself in the mirror and discovered a shocking truth: he was becoming his dad. But great things have small beginnings. With a seemingly harmless shift in his thinking, Dan worked hard to fix his health in a matter of months. At first, the effort was so great and results unimpressive that he almost quit.

But he’d come too far to throw it all away. If he quit, he knew what was waiting for him. Dan sought support from a BeachBody coach. His results skyrocketed and he regained super confidence. While exercising, he burned off a whopping 20lbs and got his body fat to an amazing 7.6%… can you say gladiator status!

Today, his results rival the fitness level of any testosterone raging teenager! Can you do 16 pull-ups (non-stop)? If you ask Dan what his biggest problem in life is today, he says, “Not diabetes!!!!”

Check out his P90X Results video below:

You can visit Dan at his website:  http://www.letsgo-fitness.com/

1) What were your before/after stats (weight/body fat)?
Before: 167lbs, about 23.7% body fat.
After: 148lbs, about 7.6% body fat.

2) What your life was like before and how it has changed/improved?

My father (and grandfather) had both passed due to complications from type 2 diabetes.  I was heading down the same path, as my condition could have been described as “diabesity” – skinny fat, where I didn’t look too fat with clothes on, but without my shirt, my body told a different story.  Since I changed my main habits of eating and drinking Shakeology, my energy is easily double of what it used to be.  I don’t crave food like I used to.  I feel like my core strength has drastically improved so that I’m functionally more fit.  Back strains were common in my past, but NO LONGER!

3) How has the support of a coach and this team helped you?

The coaching and team have made all the difference in my pushing myself harder.  Case in point, I saw David Ingram post about how many reps of a certain move in P90X2, the next time I did that move, I tried to beat him.  The accountability I’ve had with my nutrition has been the biggest improvement.  Really watching my calories and learning to eat properly allowed me to transform my body and my overall health.

4) Besides the support of a coach & team, what was the key to your success?

DIALING IN NUTRITION was key to my success.  I had done both P90X and Insanity prior to really working on nutrition with my coach.  Once I fixed this, I was able to get the success I was looking for.

5) What tips would you give to someone who is new and starting out?

My advice would be to LISTEN to your coach when he/she says that nutrition is 70% of the equation:

  • modify moves in the beginning until you are able to do them (I couldn’t do 2 real pull-ups when I started, now I can do 16 in a row)
  • doing this with others makes all the difference.  I tried it alone at first, but got great results once I connected with others.”

Alyssa gets thin for the first time in her life with P90X & Insanity!

Alyssa’s transformation just blows me away! Anyone who loses 51 lbs has accomplished an amazing feat but to know that she has been a heavy girl her whole life makes it even that much better! She hit that moment in life where she made a decision that things would be different from there forward. She has set an example that we can ALL look to for inspiration. Her dedication to the programs and eating healthy is truly admirable. Do you think she’s comfortable being in a swimsuit? You better believe it!

I’m so proud of you Alyssa and everything you have accomplished! This is exactly what we love about coaching! Congratulations!

Alyssa - Before and After

Before and After

IN HER OWN WORDS:

I have never been this small in my life, not even in high school, and even though in high school I wasn’t considered a “fat” girl I was always uncomfortable and always dreamed of a flat stomach. Then in college I only gained more weight and am pretty sure I could have been considered the “fat” girl. Being this size is still pretty unbelievable to me. It has absolutely changed my attitude and just myself for the better. I look at everything differently and enjoy the small things, like trying on clothes much better.

What it was like having a coach and being a part of our team:

The BeachBody workouts were definitely a huge step in my weightloss journey. I started off with just diet and some exercise at the gym but once I received my first workout (P90X), I was never looking back! It gave me such a transformation that I never thought was possible for my frame. It’s amazing to have my BeachBody coach David on stand by. I know I can turn to him for support and its a great feeling to have!

Gamyr’s P90X Results – 90 days

Many of us choose to do P90X & Shakeology to get ripped but what if you needed it to help you improve your job? Gamyr not only runs his own theater company, he has gotten back into performing! Being in tip top shape is a must because these guys are performing in front of audiences for hours! I know how busy this guy is and knowing that he was able to stick to P90X and have incredible results is inspiring to me! If you think YOU are unique and are too busy to find an hour a day to workout, think again!

I’m really proud of Gamyr for his dedication and happy for his results. I included a few photos below of him enjoying his new-found energy and healthy body!

IN HIS OWN WORDS:

I’ve always felt self-conscious physically, and have tried on other occasions to get into better shape, but other systems were too vague for me, and nutrition was a complete foreign concept so I failed. I had received a copy of p90x a few years ago, and it sat waiting and waiting for me to get the right level of motivation. I finally got the opportunity to act on stage again after 12 years of not doing so, and suddenly I had the motivation I needed to get past that hurdle. So here I am done with round 1 and moving right on to round 2. I’m completely hooked! And I love it!

BEFORE P90X:

Before doing P90X I could fall asleep at any given time. I work crazy hours with my job and am quite active in general. Amidst all that craziness I also try and run my own theatre company, so I have reason to be tired. However, since I took the P90X challenge, I have found I have so much more energy and drive throughout the day. I’ll finish a workout now, and sometimes it’s not enough. I feel like running a race. I still get less than ideal amounts of sleep at times, but it doesn’t wear me down as much as it used to. I have a fire now. It’s amazing. It’s also, amazing to see how many people are taking notice and asking me what I’m doing and how they can do it. Being an inspiration for other people’s well being has given me a new sense of purpose and fulfillment as well. I’m loving this new phase of my life!

What it was like having a coach and being a part of our team:

Before I found Coach Ingram, I had done the first 2 phases of P90X completely on my own, and with no real understanding of the importance of nutrition. I have never been “fat”, so I felt no urgency to follow a nutrition plan. I figured if I just exercised regularly, I would tone up and accomplish my goals. After 60 days I had made some progress, but not like that of some of the people who were posting their results on youtube after the same amount of time. I was frustrated, and I turned to beachbody.com for answers. I signed up for a coach, and quickly learned that nutrition was the key to success I was lacking. I asked David a lot of questions, and he was great to get back to me quickly and thoroughly every time. Reading the team posts on our FB page, I was further informed and inspired, and nutrition became a huge focus for my last 30 days. And I saw an incredible shift in how I felt and how I looked. I couldn’t have done it without that support! I made more progress in that last 30 days than in the previous 60, both in how I looked, but also in how well I was performing. I made massive gains in all my weight training, and I’m still doing so. Thanks David, and the team!

Marine Jake’s Awesome P90X Transformation

Have you ever been devastated by something that happened in your life and you stopped caring about your body and let things slide for too long? After Jake’s wife left him and his 5 month old son behind, he turned to booze and eating to soothe the pain. He gained over 30 lbs and when he hit rock bottom, he decided to give P90X a try. As a former marine, he had learned discipline and he applied that dedication to P90X. He not only gave it all he had in the workouts, he took time to learn about nutrition and nailed it! He loves Shakeology and that is a big part of his P90X nutrition plan.

I’m so thrilled to Jacob on our team! His transformation is amazing and he’s an amazing guy as well. He’s now coaching and help other people to change their lives!

Check out Jake’s Inspirational transformation video he recently published!

Jake's Before an and After

Happy and Healthy !

IN HIS OWN WORDS:
When I moved out on my own I let bad habits run rampant in my life.  I went from skinny to decently built through the Marine Corps but as the years went on, and I got married and had a child I let my health slip.  When my ex wife had an affair and signed off parental rights I let exercise and nutrition take a backseat to video games and alcohol.

My primary focus was my son, and I never let my bad habits effect that, but I was lacking the energy to be a “great” dad like he deserved.  My weight was steadily climbing, one year it reached just under 200 lbs.  I started hitting the gym and starving myself but I never really got it under control and I would always end up right back to where I started.

The day I said ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH was when I was watching Rocky (the new one) with my girlfriend Adriana and my son Trent.  There was a motivational moment in the film where Rocky said “You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit… It’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That´s how winning is done! Now, if you know what you’re worth, go out and get what you worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying, You ain´t what you wanna be because of him or her or anybody. ”

I looked at her, I looked at myself, I looked at my son, as we all sat there eating Taco Bell.  Seeing my son sip down a Baja Blast Mountain Dew.  I felt sick… Something arose within me, I was DONE being unhealthy. I was DONE saying I’d start changing my life tomorrow but never doing it.  I was DONE blowing my money on fast food and being a bad example tomy son.

We have a gym at our apartment complex and we figured if we could just find a routine that showed us how to work out properly we could get things going.  After some google searching on personal trainer routines P90X came up.  We looked over the program, saw the testimonials online and decided to commit to it.

My life before P90X was a haze of fast food, laziness, and wanting to get healthy but not knowing where to begin.  I barely had enough energy or the desire to do anything with my son outdoors.  Now that I’ve completed the program (twice) and am currently about to hit one year working out with Beachbody programs, my life is incredible.  My body is more fit than it’s EVER been and I can’t remember the last time I had this much energy.

I still don’t recognize myself in the mirror.  My confidence levels are through the roof! Life is SO much better now.  It makes me sad to think that for the last 8 or so years, I’ve been putting all of that junk into my body.  I’m glad that I too control now before it got worse.

What was it like having a coach and being a part of our team?
One of the most important aspects of my transformation, and why I’ve been able to commit my life to healthy eating and exercise, is the support of my coach and the online community as being part of his team provides.  I received tons of good information about nutrition that really helped me maximize my efforts, and going online to check in with the community is FUN. I can post what workouts I’ve been doing, the progress I’m making, videos and pictures etc.  It turns Facebook into something productive, inspiring, and encouraging.  Support is truly the winning element when combined with fitness and nutrition.

Committing to a healthy lifestyle is so much fun when you share it with others, and I feel just so blessed to be a part of it.  My life is forever changed!

IN HIS OWN WORDS:

In January of 2011 I had come to the I realization that I was not living the life that I wanted to live. I had lost control of myself, and my habits. I was drinking too much, eating very unhealthy foods, and smoking cigarettes. These things combined to  lead me down the road of depression and bad health. I was suffering mentally and didn’t know what to do. My realtionship was going down hill and I was struggling to enjoy the little bit of quality time that I had with my young daughter.  To top it all off, my doctor told me that my cholesterol was way too high and I needed to do something about it! Being a former Marine I knew that I deserved better for myself.

I like many others, saw theP90X infomercials, and all the success stories and said to myself “you have to be fit to do that”. As I watched some of the success stories, I realized that the people were real. The happy faces were from genuine people who have succeeded with P90X and changed their lives! I ordered it that night and began my journey .  I connected with a coach who was instrumental in getting me dialed in on my nutrition, and supplements to maximize my results.  His encouragement and constant guidance were essential in my success. His friendship was a bonus. He was passionate about helping me and it showed everyday.  As much as I owe to P90X and mself, I owe just as much to him!

I lost 25 lbs and 12% Body Fat in 90 days!! I completely changed my outlook on life, I have a renewed self respect, and a strong mental attitude, that I can do anything, because I did.

Not only do I look great, I feel even better, mentally, physically, and emotionaly I am a better person.

Kevin does P90X to enjoy life in Hawaii!

Another amazing P90X success story for our team! Kevin lives in beautiful Hawaii but was spending most days in-doors, playing video games and participating in ‘eating contests’. He didn’t have the energy to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Well, he decided that he HAD enough and got into P90X. You can see from his results already, he’s had a HUGE change in his body.

We love having Kevin on our team because of his enthusiasm and positive attitude. He always contributes something positive to team!

Best of all, he has the energy now to get outdoors and enjoy himself!  He just told me that he is pursuing his dream of learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!  Kevin represents what this team is all about, CHANGING…YOUR…LIFE…!

Kevin Phan P90X Results

Kevin Phan P90X Results 3.5 - 4 months total

In his own words:

1. My life before was everything but active or as happy as I am now. I used to just wake up and think about playing games, wait for my friends to call to go get fast food and see how many eating contest I could join.

Now after the changes, I find myself wanting to push harder and better myself. I want to see just how healthy I can get. Now instead of waking up and thinking of playing games, I wake up with the idea of working out and trying to get out, go hiking or now a days wanting to go surfing. Which I would have never done without this.

2. The support of a coach is something I think everyone should look into. Without David and without this team, I would have got up on so many mornings saying the same thing “Eh I can wait another day before working out.” But with the support of a team like this, it gets me pumped seeing how far people can bring it and how people can change and do things they never thought they could!

David’s P90X Nutrition Plan Simplified for best results

I made several modifications to the P90X Nutrition Plan that simplified it and gave me great results. These are the 4 steps I followed and the foods I ate to lose 36 lbs of fat and gain 8 lbs of muscle in 6 months!

I also provide daily meal plans and a big list of P90X approved foods which you can use to create your own daily diet plan.

 P90X Diet and P90X Nutrition

Update: I’ve made a new video that simplifies how to lose body fat with P90X. Start with this video before reading below.

P90X Nutrition

The P90X Nutritional Plan is based on 3 phases outlined below. You’re supposed to start phase 1 with pretty restricted calories/carbs and then INCREASE both as you go through it. It is designed to prevent your body metabolism from slowing down and plateauing. Even though I added calories, I did not increase my ratio of carbs to protein as it suggests. I stayed at 40/40/20 (protein/carb/fat) the whole way through.

P90X is not a starvation diet or a big calorie restriction diet like many other popular diets. You lose the fat mostly through exercise!

The 4 critical parts of the P90X nutrition plan are:

1) Remove the junk from your diet:  simple carbs and sugars, processed foods, toxins and saturated fats
2) Replace with quality complex carbs, lean protein and healthy fats
3) Eat enough to fuel your workouts and metabolism (with the right calorie goal!)
4) Target the right ratio of protein, carb, fat (by tracking what you eat!)

What foods should I eat with my daily P90X Diet?

Below are 4 different daily food plans based on my calorie goals as I went through the program:

David’s 1900 Calorie P90X Diet
David’s 2100 Calorie P90X Diet
David’s 2400 Calorie P90X Diet
David’s 2300 Calorie P90X Diet with NO DAIRY*

Read through our P90X approved foods list with a lot of different foods to choose from.

Know which carbs to avoid and which carbs to eat – check out my list of simple and complex carbs.

We’ve also recorded a youtube video that shows healthy foods to buy from CostCo that are “P90X approved”.  Watch Kate’s P90X Foods from CostCo video.

What “Must Have” supplement should I use with P90X to lose fat in a healthy way?

Shakeology - The best way to transform your body is with Shakeology. This is the foundation of my nutrition plan and has really improved my overall health. I was skeptical of the price at first so I decided to try it out using the 30 day-money back guarantee. I’ve been on it every day since.  In fact, it’s now one of only 2 Beachbody supplements that I recommend. To me, it’s WORTH IT but you’ll have to decide that for yourself.

It’s basically a high quality meal replacement unlike anything else. It will help you lose that body fat and give you energy. Why? Because it contains 17g quality carbs, 18g quality protein and 70 of the healthiest nutrients in the world. It improves your digestive system, removes toxins, lowers cholesterol, helps you to lose fat and improve energy levels, hair, nails and skin. I have this every day for breakfast.

It comes out to $4/day but if you order Shakeology from this site, I’ll coach you for free.

What should my daily calorie target be?

Here’s the P90X Calorie formula. As an example, I’m using 216 lbs as a starting weight.

1) Determine your resting metabolic rate. Take your body weight (216lbs) x 10 = 2,160
2) Add calories for Daily activity (NOT including P90X) = +20% (of above #) = 432
3) Add calories for what is burned during P90X = 600
4) Add them up, we receive: 3,192
5) Now determine the calorie deficit you desire (3500 calories is 1 lb). I recommend 600-1000 per day. In this example, let’s aim for 1000. This means you take 3,192 – 1000 = 2192 calories per day.

My starting weight was 205 lbs so I ate 1900 calories for 3 months and dropped to 186 lbs while working out at the gym.

I then started P90X and followed the following calorie goals:

Phase 1: Fat Shredder (I ate 2100 calories during this phase)
50/30/20 (Protein/carb/fat)

This phase is the lowest in calories to help kick start weight loss and is followed for the first four weeks. Carbohydrates are reduced while protein intake is kept high to help with building muscle and burning fat.

Phase 2: Energy Booster (I ate 2300 calories during this phase)
40/40/20 (Protein/carb/fat)

In phase two, complex carbohydrates are added back into the plan to allow you to train harder and keep up with the intense workouts during this phase.

You are permitted to eat three servings of complex carbohydrates such as whole wheat bread, pasta or oatmeal as well as one piece of low glycemic index fruit daily. Protein intake also remains high so as to aid in muscle recovery.

You can stick with this phase as long as it is working for you and only need to progress to phase 3 if you want to increase muscular endurance and gain more muscle.

Phase 3: Endurance Maximizer (I did NOT move to Phase 3, I stayed with Phase 2 and ate 2400 calories for the last 30 days) 20/60/20 (Protein/carb/fat)

Carbohydrates are increased further to give you the stamina necessary to get through the high intensity workouts of this phase.

In all of the phases eating frequent small meals and drinking lots of water are emphasized.

What Protein/Carb/Fat ratios should I follow?

During Phase 1 (Fat Shredder), it’s recommended that you follow a ratio of 50% protein, 30% carb, 20% fat. I did this for the first 30 days. This means that 50% of your daily calories came from protein, 30% came from carbohydrates and 20% from fat.
During Phase 2 (Energy booster), it’s recommended that you follow a ratio of 40% / 40% / 20%. I stayed with this for the last 60 days. I DID NOT move to phase 3 and I don’t know of many people who have done so and had great results.

It’s hard to eat 40-50% protein with just regular food, so I HIGHLY recommend WHEY protein as a supplement. I have it twice a day. Click here for my favorite supplements that I use.

How can I easily calculate and track my ratios on a daily basis?

I use loseit.com (free) and the iphone app (free). There are many other alternatives but this one is very simple and easy to use. It’s also the easiest for seeing the % of protein, carbs and fat you’ve eaten that day.

If you’re wondering if you have to track what you eat forever, the answer is NO… just for a period of time to build new habits.

In order to create a lifestyle that you can live with long term, it really helps to educate yourself about how the nutritional value of food. I’ve found the best way to do this is by tracking what you eat for a few weeks. You’ll be surprised and amazed at what you find. The easiest way I’ve found is by using http://loseit.com (free) or the iphone app LoseIt. It has a pretty good database of foods already and you can just add other foods by reading the label on the food and plugging in the calories, protein, fat, carbs. It will then total it up for you each day and let you know how you did.

Jake finishes 90 days of P90X!

Jake is a local friend of mine that saw my transformation and decided that 2011 would be the year that he gets a sixpack!  I’d say after 90 days, he’s well on this way! Can’t wait to see where he’s at after another round of p90x!

I love seeing more lives change!

Bodybuilding.com Features David’s Transformation!

David Ingram on Bodybuilding.com

In a very surreal moment, after 4 months of waiting, I was informed that my transformation was being featured on Bodybuilding.com!!

For years I have read the forums on Bodybuilding.com and have been educated and inspired. It’s crazy to think that I am being featured on their site and inspiring so many now.

The only negative in the whole situation is that they removed any mention to P90X, Shakeology and Beachbody! I guess they feel threatened! :)

Check out the excellent article they put together here: David Ingram on Bodybuilding.com

They also posted it to their Facebook page here: David Ingram on Bodybuilding.com’s Facebook page.
